Of late, work has been sporadic for dad and I. I never know what days I’m working in a week. A lot of my work can come from unexpected clients who have had an emergency plumbing situation arise. This week if you asked me on Sunday if I had any work on I would have honestly said no. But then I had a call on Monday night about a hot water unit not working and then on Tuesday some unexpected calls came through with new plumbing jobs.
I find that the unexpected happens all the time though. The unexpected can be a nuisance and cost you money, or it can be a good unexpected as well. Like today, for instance, I received two prizes in the mail that I didn’t know I had won. I wish my mail always had unexpected prizes rather than unexpected bills!!
At the end of the day, the unexpected makes life interesting and makes us realize that we are only human and that there are some things in life that we just can’t control even if we try with all our might.
Car accidents happen, hot water units blow up and sometimes we get a windfall and then sometimes (most times) we get an electricity bill that blows us out of the water.
I have only found one being who can predict the unexpected and that is God. He knows our present and our future. He already knows what unexpected trial or blessing we are going to receive next.
Something that I have practiced only recently is asking for God’s favour in EVERYTHING. I have prayed for favour in certain areas of my life. In the last two weeks new opportunities have presented themselves to me and it all came to me asking God for his immeasurable favour.
My encouragement for you today is to ask for God’s favour and expect it. Make your next unexpected moment a life enhancer! Expect the unexpected and see your faith grow!
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
