Taking Stock – The Post that made me realise I need to get out more!

I was wanting to write a personal post with all the random stuff that has been happening here in The Plumbette HQ and I thought the best way to tell you was to use this Taking Stock post prompt which I enjoy reading on other people’s blogs. The prompt was create by Pip Lincolne from Meet Me At Mike’s, so I went to fill in the empty prompts and I got stuck on most of the questions. I got there in the end! It was a good exercise to go through to realise I need to play and bookmark more. Here is a glimpse of what has been happening in my life at present.

Making : Lot’s of lists. Lists of blog posts for The Plumbette and Styled by Bec. Lists of what I need to do after attending Problogger.  A list of clothes I need now that I’ve stopped breastfeeding. A list of things that need to be done around the house before Christmas. A list of Christmas presents I need to buy before Christmas.

Cooking : Nothing fabulous at the moment. I need to change up our dinners. I gravitate towards making the same dinners week in and week out. I’d love some family favourite dinner suggestions please!

Drinking : Water. Lots of filtered water. I don’t really drink much else.

Reading: My Bible. Our church has been doing a series on the book of Acts. It’s a crazy book where God does some crazy things.

Wanting: Life to slow down. We are nearly in September and over half the year has gone.

Looking: For new kitchen bench stools with backs. We only have two which Jacob and I have had since we got engaged ( 11 years old) and Esther and Maggie enjoy sitting at the kitchen bench to help me cook or draw or eat to ensure Bentley and Phoebe don’t steal their food. I need to get another stool so Phoebe can sit there eventually too. The question is do I buy three stools that match or buy 1 stool and try and paint or do something with the existing stools to make them match?

Playing: House of Cards on Netflix. I’m not sure if I totally like it, but I want to know what happens next.

Deciding: Whether getting Netflix was a good decision…

Wishing: It was easier to lose weight. I’ve been a bit stagnant lately in losing the post baby weight and I struggle with my sweet tooth.

Enjoying: This warmer weather and Spring coming early in Brisbane. I’m also enjoying this new filter on my Olympus camera that I learned at Problogger. It makes me look fabulous in every shot!

Waiting: For magpies to attack me. I hear they are swooping early this season.

Liking: That Spring is nearly here. Which season do you think is my favourite?!

Wondering: How Esther will cope with Prep next year. I can’t believe how fast she is growing.

Loving: That Phoebe is walking everywhere. She can now go to Kids Church which means, I am free from viewing the church service from the parent room. I feel like I’ve been in that room for 2 years. It’s nice to be free!

Phoebe is on the move!

Pondering: How family life can change in the space of 5 years. We are coming out of the baby years and I feel sad but also very excited.

Considering: Painting our house. But do we wait until Phoebe and Magdalene have got their Picasso moments out or just bite the bullet and paint?

Buying: Groceries and paying bills. That’s it. Trying to save a buffer for our holiday in October.

Watching: House of Cards on Netflix. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but this weekend I said to Jacob ‘I want to watch something’. So we signed up to Netflix and realized it could be run off our apple TV. Winning.

Hoping: I have enough internet data to cover the shows we’ve been watching. Might get a nice surprise from Telstra next month.

Marvelling: At Magdalene’s grasp of words. Her speaking is becoming so much clearer. She has also started to say no to me more.

Cringing: At the Ashley Maddison scandal with two Christian men being found out. So awful for their families.

Needing: More time to just be. I’ve tried to stop putting pressure on myself to get things done and it’s been nice not to feel burdened.

Questioning: My time management. Could I be better at managing my time?

Smelling: Dusk’s calm candle which is a mix of lavender and rose. It’s my favourite candle scent.

Wearing: Jeans and a t-shirt. It’s my mummy uniform.

Following: People who follow me on social media. Isn’t it the right thing to do to follow back? Yet I’m following more people than who follow me. I’m not losing sleep over it but I find it strange of what is expected on social media.

Noticing: My plantar fasciitis in my right foot is starting to ease.

Knowing: Life is good at present and it’s going to get better.

Phoebe playing

Thinking: How to get more bloggers to link up to Home Improvement Thursdays.

Admiring: DIY Decorator blog. I like all interior style blogs. Our house is a mish mash of what we could afford and I want to make some changes but I’m not sure how. I definitely know my Instagram friends will be on call to give advice as needed.

Sorting: The messes Phoebe creates now that she is walking. She gets into everything!

Phoebe Opening Drawers

Getting: Excited about September.

Bookmarking: Nothing. How boring! I couldn’t think of an answer for this prompt! I will bookmark it for next time. 🙂

Coveting: Comfortable underwear.

Disliking: People who do the wrong thing by others and rather than apologise and face the music, they attack.

Opening: Junk Mail. I love Junk mail.

Giggling: At Maggie. She calls her toes piggies. Whenever I put her shoes on she asks me to be careful of her ‘piggies’.

Feeling: Tired. Looking forward to that holiday in October.

Snacking: On Cadbury Pretzel and Nut Chocolate.

Helping: Organise a mother’s group at Church. I tried to run one at the beginning of the year which didn’t turn out well.

Hearing: It’s going to be a scorcher this summer. Best to get that air conditioner serviced as it will be cranking before you know it!

If you want to do you own post using these prompts, just copy and paste this onto your blog.
