Christmas 2015

As quick as it arrives, Christmas Day is gone before you know it. I felt like Christmas not only came earlier this year, but seemed to be over quicker than years before.

I was really looking forward to Christmas Day because Maggie had a good understanding about Christmas and the presents and was quick to tell her uncle Andrew that Christmas was about Baby Jesus.

Our family got spoilt this Christmas. The grandparents on my side of the family put in to buy the girls a trampoline which arrived on Tuesday. There was no need for Jacob to try and put it together because my mum paid the extra in not only getting it delivered, but installed as well. There were screams of joy as soon as Esther and Maggie saw the trampoline all assembled in the backyard. I couldn’t wait to go on it myself. Phoebe thought it was fabulous and I can see many mornings and afternoons outside on it.

On Christmas Eve we headed to church, but before we left, we got our annual family Christmas photo which took a lot of tries in getting everyone to look a the camera and smile or look normal. I may have had to say poo poo pants to get a few laughs which helped the girls smile at the camera. The things we do to get a decent family picture!

By the time we came home from church, had late dinner and put the girls to bed, it was 9pm and I still had presents to wrap. It was a late night Christmas Eve, but as I did my midnight scroll through Facebook before heading to bed, I realized we weren’t the only parents up late, with some dads up trying to put bikes, trampolines and swing sets up, ready for Christmas Day.

The girls weren’t up too early – up at 6:30am and they were eager to get into the presents.

Despite not buying a lot for our girls, they got quite a few presents and were indeed spoilt. I have no idea where we are going to store the new toys.

Shopkins were a big hit with Maggie and Esther, who played nicely with their new sets for at least an hour while Jacob and I prepared food for lunch.

Esther was so happy to receive her ‘expensible pony’, which is actually a unicorn and yes was expensive, but I failed to have the right batteries. I bought all sizes in the lead up to Christmas, except for the size we needed for the unicorn. That’s on the list of to dos tomorrow.

Christmas Day Mess

We were hosting our immediate family for Christmas, which works well when you have little kids that go down for a nap in the middle of the day. The food was simple and delicious. The leftovers were plentiful which will see us well fed for the next couple of days.

After a late afternoon sleep, the girls played outside with their new water bombs. I jumped on the trampoline to jiggle away some of what I ate during the day. We finished the day by heading out to see the Christmas lights  near our house and then it was back to bed again to sleep off what was one of our best Christmas Days yet.

Boxing Day we opted to stay home and play with new toys. Jacob chaperoned the girls while they painted one of their new craft sets and this was the aftermath. But I didn’t care because it was Boxing Day.

The house is still a little in disarray but we have a few days left to sort out where to put new items. There has still been a lot of eating and relaxing. Phoebe has learned how to get into the swing of the holiday season.

It is definitely a wonderful time of the year.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and made memories with your family.

We certainly did with ours.

How was your day? What were the winning Christmas presents in your household?
