Eight years ago when I started my plumbing apprenticeship I went on the hunt for women’s steel cap boots and lady tradie workwear. Unfortunately my search confirmed what I already knew that there was NOTHING for women. I used to joke with my family that one day I would design my own female steel capped shoes and I thought about designing workwear for women tradies but I was busy running a family business with dad, and I just didn’t think there would be a big enough market for that kind of gear.
Well how wrong was I?
Since becoming a mother, there have been all sorts of workwear and boots designed specifically for women tradies. I follow them all on Facebook and wish I could have had them at my disposal all those years ago. I would have looked the goods so much better!
I became aware of she wear when Alisa & Lysandra from The Block Fans vs Faves series wore them onsite. Unfortunately larger workboot manufacturers have knocked off the she wear idea to create their own lady tradie boots, trying to invade the boutique niche she wear provides for.
She wear opened their first she wear boots and workwear for women tradies store at the beginning of this month. I have been BUSTING to get there, even though it’s on the other side of town for me. It was well worth the trip as I was able to try on the workwear all in the one place.
She wear boots are designed by women and made for women. They are a proudly Australian owned and operated company and their boots are tested to comply with the tough australian/nz standards and certified by leading third party certification company, the bsi group. She wear do ship internationally. Obtain a quote online from the managing director Stacey and she will organize delivery for you.
When I went into the store yesterday it was hard for me to decide on a colour. My favourite colour is red, but I decided to go with the pink She Can style. I was able to talk to the store manager who advised they would be bringing in zip up/down boots. I’ll get a pair of red ones then (if red of course is launched – colours have yet to be confirmed). The sizing was just right for my feet. I have avoided buying boots during my pregnancies because my feet expand and have gone up half a size each time. Boots are an investment so I didn’t want to have various sizes just sitting in my wardrobe.

She’s Empowered (maternity hi-vis work wear) and Eve Workwear (tailor fit work wear for women) are stocked in the store too. I tried on Eve Workwear, but while the size 16 shirt fit me, the size 16 pants did not. The pants don’t cater for a curvaceous figure like mine. That might be something for the designers to think about with their line.

This is what I purchased… Eve Workwear shirt in Khaki and She Can work boots.
The boots aren’t just for lady tradies. If you do a lot of renovating or work in a warehouse, these boots are the boots for you. Anywhere that safety compliant shoes need to be worn, she wear will cater for your needs.
The she wear store is located on 269 Earnshaw Road Northgate. The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm. Appointments can be made outside of those hours if you are unable to visit at those times. You can also purchase she wear boots online. Follow their Facebook page for updates on new boots.
Would you benefit from a pair of she wear boots? Which colour is your favourite?
I’m linking up with Essentially Jess for IBOT.
